To be successful is to be helpful, caring, and constructive, to make everything and everyone you touch a little bit better.

Jessica Hume is a certified family nurse practitioner. She cares for newborns through 21 years old of age. Jessica received her Master of Science in nursing from SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. She began her nursing studies at Maria College in Albany, NY, earning her associate’s degree, and completed her bachelor’s degree in nursing at Utica College in Utica, NY. Jessica also holds a Bachelor of Science in health studies from Utica College. She has extensive pediatric experience, a thorough educational background, and a desire to provide high-quality care to children. Jessica’s previous experience includes working in the pediatric ICU and the ER. She is particularly interested in pediatric well visits for infants and toddlers and breastfeeding education. Jessica studied the benefits of breastfeeding, the importance of skin-to-skin contact after birth and how that helps initiate early breastfeeding for a successful breastfeeding journey. From personal experience, she understands how challenging it can be, which is why she is interested in helping new moms.

Jessica knew from a young age she wanted to work in healthcare. She couldn’t picture herself doing anything else! After her grandmother’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis, she decided to become a nurse. The healthcare individuals who cared for her grandmother were truly amazing and helped Jessica to realize she wanted to help people and their families during hard times and make a positive difference. Her favorite part of the job is establishing relationships with children and their families and watching them grow and develop. She believes providing autonomy and good communication is key to quality care. What brings Jessica the most satisfaction professionally is establishing a patient profile and seeing each and every one of them grow and develop and live a fulfilling, healthy childhood. She looks forward to working with new parents as they bring their newborns in and help them transition into the parent role, and be there for them to answer any and all questions.

Jessica is originally from Rotterdam, NY. In her spare time, she enjoys taking her daughter for walks, playing with their two dogs, and going on their boat.
