Information About Your Child’s COVID Test Results

We’ve seen an increase in requests for COVID-19 testing recently – for school, exposures, events, respiratory symptoms, etc. We’re happy to test you by appointment in our office (following our infection control procedures), coordinate testing through CCP’s testing center in Latham, or guide you to other testing locations in the area. However, we ask that you please only call us during normal business hours for your test results.  While we have practitioners on-call after hours, they need to devote this evening and weekend time to our patients with medical emergencies, not providing test results. We hope you understand.

Rest assured, our practitioners will contact you promptly – by portal or phone call –  during business hours as soon as we receive and review your test results. We will call you with any results that we deem “critical” – that is, results that require immediate action. Also keep in mind, back in April 2020, we wrote to you informing you of the Cures Act, which requires that all patients have immediate access to notes, reports and test results as soon as they enter your medical record. Unfortunately, this means you sometimes get results before our practitioners review them and contact you. On the other hand, this also means that as soon as your test results (including COVID) are completed by the lab, they will display in your patient portal under the results tab.  So, you can always check your portal after hours to see if your result is in. If it’s not in your portal, your test result is not available yet.
